Why Balaton Modell Exists

Balaton Modell was born from a simple idea:

If the models we wanted didn't exist, we would create them ourselves.

As a scale modeller, I was always fascinated by the vehicles I remembered from my childhood. IFA, Csepel, ZIL trucks, MTZ, Rába tractors and many other everyday vehicles that shaped life across Eastern Europe.

These were the machines we saw on the roads, in the fields, on construction sites and in military service. They were part of everyday life, yet very few of them had ever been produced as high-quality scale models.

So instead of waiting for someone else to make them, I decided to create them myself.

Today, Balaton Modell designs and manufactures small-batch resin model kits that preserve the history of these often-overlooked vehicles. Every kit is created with the same enthusiasm that inspired the very first model—by a modeller, for modellers.

Because the vehicles we grew up with deserve to be remembered.

"We preserve the engineering heritage of Eastern Europe – one model at a time."
