The IFA W50 LAK-2 was one of the most widely used special-purpose military vehicles of the National People's Army (NVA) of East Germany. Mounted on the all-wheel-drive IFA W50 truck chassis, the LAK-2 shelter was introduced during the 1970s for a wide variety of military roles. The abbreviation LAK stands for "Leicht Absetzbarer Koffer" (Light Detachable Shelter), reflecting its modular design that allowed the body to be quickly removed from the vehicle and used independently when required.
One of the LAK-2's most innovative features was its glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP) sandwich construction with an insulated core. This lightweight yet highly durable design provided excellent thermal insulation, outstanding corrosion resistance and reduced vehicle weight compared with conventional steel bodies. These advantages made the shelter particularly suitable for use in harsh climates and demanding military environments.
The insulated shelter could be configured as a mobile workshop, radio station, command post, medical unit or field accommodation. Thanks to the excellent off-road capability and reliability of the IFA W50, the LAK-2 became one of the NVA's most versatile military vehicles. Even today, many surviving LAK-2 shelters are converted into expedition and overland vehicles, a testament to the quality and durability of their design.

Unassembled resin kit with brass (photoetched parts) parts. Paint and glue are not included!
The attached drawings instructions help to assembly.
You can use sharp tools (Sniccer, jigsaw or electric mini drill with cutter disk, thick is max. 0,5-1mm.)
to take apart the parts from the resin blocks.
Please use careful, and note that this requires a little more experience,
such than to injection molded plastic kits!
Protect the resin parts from strong heat! (Strong sunshine, radiator, hot water, etc.)
Recommended glue for the resin parts is super glue.
